Milwaukee on Amazon.ca is organized around its two battery platforms. M18 is the 18-volt system: FUEL brushless drill/drivers and hammer drills, impact drivers, the Sawzall reciprocating saw, circular saws, angle grinders, the mid-torque and high-torque impact wrenches, the FUEL Surge hydraulic driver, and the combo kits that bundle several of these with batteries and a charger. M12 is the compact 12-volt line: the M12 FUEL drill and impact driver, the Hackzall, ratchets, the Installation Driver and the heated jackets and vests. Around the tools sit REDLITHIUM batteries (CP, XC and HIGH OUTPUT packs), chargers, the PACKOUT modular storage system of tool boxes, crates and organizers, and the hand tools and accessories: Shockwave impact bits, hole saws, Fastback utility knives, tape measures, pliers and the M18 and M12 lights.

Before you buy, read the listing name to the end. Milwaukee sells most tools as a bare tool ("tool only") or as a kit with battery and charger, and the two look identical in the photo; the bare tool is cheaper but useless without a battery. Confirm the platform – an M12 battery does not fit an M18 tool. FUEL denotes the brushless premium line, while non-FUEL tools are brushed and cheaper. Battery listings should state amp-hours and generation (a 5.0 Ah XC and a 6.0 Ah HIGH OUTPUT are different products). Milwaukee's warranty, five years on most tools and three years on batteries, applies only to tools bought from authorized dealers, so a listing sold by Amazon.ca or an authorized retailer is worth the extra dollars over a grey-market import. Combo kits often bundle an older tool generation with a newer one.

Milwaukee reductions cluster around Prime Day in July, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Boxing Week and the spring and Father's Day tool sales. New tool generations – Gen 3 to Gen 4 FUEL, for instance – push the previous generation onto sale.

Regularly reduced: previous-generation FUEL tools, combo kits with a promotional free battery, PACKOUT organizers and accessory sets. Rarely reduced: current-generation bare tools, HIGH OUTPUT batteries sold alone and the newest M18 FUEL releases.
