Salomon's Amazon.com.au range is footwear first. The Speedcross trail runners are the best-known, followed by the X Ultra hiking shoes and mid boots, the Sense Ride and Ultra Glide for trail running, the Quest boots for heavier hiking, and the XA Pro 3D, which has become as much a street shoe as a trail shoe. Sportstyle models such as the XT-6 and ACS Pro appear less predictably and usually through marketplace sellers. Beyond shoes there are trail running packs and vests, gaiters and the odd piece of apparel; ski gear is thin on Amazon Australia. Sellers are a mix of Amazon Australia, Salomon's own store and third-party outdoor retailers.

Buying tips: Salomon footwear is known for a narrower fit than most, and the Speedcross in particular is snug through the midfoot, so many buyers go up half a size; the X Ultra runs closer to standard and has a wide version in some markets. Check the reviews on the exact listing rather than relying on your usual size. Reductions are almost always tied to specific sizes and colours, so open the card and confirm your combination is the one marked down. Gore-Tex and non-Gore-Tex versions of the same model are separate products with different prices, and only one may be reduced. For sportstyle models sold by marketplace sellers, look at the seller's history and where the item ships from.

Timing: end of season is the reliable window. Salomon updates the Speedcross and X Ultra on a regular cycle, and when a new version lands the outgoing one is reduced for months, so a Speedcross 6 at a good price when the 7 is out is a common find. Black Friday and Cyber Monday bring reductions across the range, Boxing Day on 26 December starts the summer clearance, and the EOFY sales in June often include hiking boots ahead of the winter walking season. Prime Day in July adds a few models.

What gets reduced: previous-generation versions, uncommon colourways and odd sizes are the standard markdowns. The current Speedcross and X Ultra in black in popular sizes are rarely reduced much, and the sportstyle XT-6 seldom sees a genuine discount on Amazon.
