Collectibles on Salewunder in the US is the category for things people keep rather than use up: building sets, vinyl figures and statues, trading card boxes and booster packs, die-cast models, display-grade action figures, and licensed replicas. Rather than a fixed roster of brands, what shows up here depends on which licensed lines and sets retailers are currently clearing. Which of them are discounted changes constantly, and the page shows only the current state.

Collectors know two things that casual buyers do not. First, sealed and opened are different products: a factory-sealed set or box holds its value in a way an opened one never will, so a discount on sealed stock is worth more than the same dollar figure on an open-box return. Second, a retired set stops falling. While a set is in production, retailers compete on it and the price drifts down; the moment production ends, the remaining stock is all there will be and the price turns around. If a set you want has been marked down and is near the end of its run, that markdown is the floor.

Three windows on the US calendar matter here. Amazon's October event and Black Friday through Cyber Monday are when the big building-set lines and figure ranges get their broadest reductions. The post-Christmas clearance in January is where the holiday exclusives and the sets that did not sell get cut hard before the new-year releases arrive.

What gets discounted: sets and figures at the end of their production run, overstocked waves of a licensed line after a film or show has left the conversation, and larger bundle sizes retailers ordered too many of. What almost never does: a limited or numbered release while it is still available at list, because those sell out before they ever need a markdown.
