The buying advice that matters is about leather, not style. The standard Smooth leather on a 1460 is stiff and takes a real break-in — weeks of short wears, thick socks, and heel protection until the collar softens. Softy T, Nappa and Virginia leathers are supple from the first wear and skip most of that. Sizing is the other trap: Dr. Martens are sold in whole sizes only, so if you are a half size, most people take the size down and let the boot mould rather than sizing up and sliding around.

Boots are winter stock in Australia, and winter is June to August. That means the most consistent reductions come as the season ends and through the warmer months, roughly September into February, with the January clearance the strongest single window.
